What is blockchain?

Blockchain is a decentralized digital ledger consisting of information in the form of blocks. Blocks are used to record transactions on many computers. No affected block in the chain can be changed without affecting neighboring blocks. In other words, the blockchain is a database of transactions containing information about the previous and subsequent blocks. Record immutability is achieved through hashing mechanisms.
