Anchorage's chief executive says as many as 20 leading companies are gearing up to issue stablecoins.

Issuance Wave

Anchorage Digital CEO Nathan McCauley said 12‑20 banks and tech firms are planning their own stablecoins. He revealed this at the Consensus conference in Miami. The projects span traditional banks and large technology companies. Anchorage is already partnered with most of these initiatives.

Regulatory Driver

The surge follows the passage of the GENIUS Act, a U.S. law that clarifies stablecoin requirements. The bill defines reserve rules, consumer protections and compliance standards. This legal certainty has attracted both crypto‑native and legacy institutions. McCauley credits the act for the rapid pipeline of new issuers.

Market Implications

If all projects launch, the supply of regulated dollar‑pegged tokens could rise sharply. Competition may drive lower fees and spur payment‑rail innovation. However, regulators may face challenges overseeing a crowded ecosystem. Anchorage’s role as infrastructure provider signals tighter integration of banking and digital assets.
