New Treasury Rule

On April 8, 2026 the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced proposed regulations that, for the first time, will obligate permitted payment stablecoin issuers to adhere to federal anti‑money‑laundering and sanctions statutes.

Joint FinCEN‑OFAC Notice

FinCEN and OFAC released a combined notice of proposed rulemaking on the same date, requiring stablecoin issuers to meet the obligations set forth in the Bank Secrecy Act.
